Here's a crazy little idea I have for how you could make money out of wedding photo thank you cards!
First, I have to let you in on a big insider secret.
Photographers are scared that there are too many new photographers coming into the industry. They're
worried there won't be enough work to go around.
I personally believe the people that are worried most are those who aren't creative enough to think of original
ways to gain new clients.
Fierce competition forces us to offer you something remarkable. Something so unique and original that
you'll fall in love with it and tell the world.
So my idea is this
If you've found a wedding photographer that offers wedding photo thank you cards, ask him this
quesiton:
"How much would you be willing to pay to gain a new wedding client?"
What I'm talking about is your wedding photographer rewarding you for bringing him new business!
How do you do this with wedding photo cards?
Well, you're planning on sending a wedding thank you note to all your guests, aren't you?
Here's what you do:
- Get your photographer to create a special offer for your wedding guests (i.e. free gift)
- Have him print it onto a business card or similar
- Send out your wedding thank you cards with your photographer's special offer inside
Now, if one of your friends or relatives books your photographer for their own wedding, he'll pay you a referral fee,
based on the answer he gave to your earlier question! (Obviously this might be negotiable!)
And as they're only go out to people you know, it should be easy track this system. Hopefully you both trust each other
implicitly by now anyway. But it may be worth having this arrangement written down and signed.
So there you go. A simple referral scheme that should earn you money, bring in new business for the photographer,
and gives your friends a unique special offer. Win, win, win!
