Let's start at the beginning...

Wedding Proof Albums

The first album you're likely to come across is a proof album. Also known as an originals album or a catalogue. This album will contain all the images your photographer has approved (i.e. without the duds).

Some photographers don't do any post-production work to these photos. They'll only enhance the ones you have chosen to go in your album.

When you have chosen which photos you want in your main album, your photographer will go to work creating it.

Matted Wedding Albums

Matted albums are to do with how the album pages are constructed. They range from being incredibly dated and cheesy, to very cool and contemporary.

The cheaper ones are bought part assembled, whereby the photographer will attach the photos to each page and apply a mount to 'frame' the image. The most expensive are bespoke made, so you'll have a choice of cover materials, page colours, edging colours, etc.

Flush Wedding Album

A flush wedding album has many guises! But just like matted albums, the name refers to how the pages are made, not it's style.

Magazine Wedding Album

Also known as a storybook wedding album, these have been designed to have a fashion magazine type look.

Wedding Coffee Table Book

These are a type of digital wedding photo album. Photos are printed directly onto a page, just like a coffee table book!
