Upper Mid-Range Wedding Photography

With this guide to budget wedding photography I want to give you a rough idea of what you can expect to get for your money.

Cheap wedding photographers don't necessarily take low-quality photos.

There are a number of factors that determine wedding photography prices:

• How many hours you have the photographer for and how much he charges for his time;
• How many photos are included and how much the photographer thinks they're worth;
• The size/quality/brand of wedding album;
• Any additional products such as framed prints, proof albums or DVD slideshows.

So, based on these factors, this is what a typical upper mid-range package might look like:

1. Cost - £1700-£2700

2. Attendance - All day, possibly two photographers.

3. Photos - 50-100, varying sizes in a custom album layout.

4. Album - A branded album, either a bespoke matted album like Queensberry or Jorgensen, or a storybook album like GraphiStudio.

5. Additional Products - Online gallery to view and purchase prints, small prints of all images taken/printed proof album/CD of proofs, parent album(s).

With upper mid-range wedding photography you really are investing in quality products. The albums at this level are likely to be handmade to a custom designed layout. Depending on the photographer, he may involve you in a computer planning session, so you have a say in how the photos are arranged.

On the other hand, the photographer is the one with experience, an eye for what looks good and knows how the pages should be composed.

At the very least he should show you a proof of the layout before it goes into production.

As these albums are bespoke, they'll be a longer waiting time before you receive your album. Photographers worldwide use the above brands, uploading images over the internet, so your order will be in a queue waiting to go into production.

But as I've said, these albums are amazing quality and are worth the wait!
