How I built this website with
no previous experience or knowledge...
and how you could do the same!

I was in my half-decorated office, in my dressing gown, at the computer, reading an e-book - exactly like this...

My wife took this picture - I don't know why, but it's come in useful for this page!

The book was about small business marketing, and in the chapter on websites the author quoted a guy called Ken Evoy.

I clicked on the link to Ken's website, and starting reading about his product called Site Build It! (SBI!)

I was so hooked on what I was reading,
I spent most of the day in my dressing gown!

I couldn't tear myself away from the computer to go and get dressed...

In a nutshell, Site Build It! is a web-based product that gives you all the tools and information you need to build a successful website.

What do I mean by a successful website?

Well, one that:

• Provides useful, relevent information that people are actually searching for;
• Ranks highly at search engines for a variety of phrases;
• Is well structured and laid-out
• Gets lots and lots of visitors
• Makes you money!

Anyway, where was I...?

After a spending a few days thinking about whether Site Build It! really was as good as it says it was, I decided to take a gamble.

But actually, it wasn't a gamble at all as they offer a 30-day guarantee.

They said anyone can build a successful SBI! website because of the 10-step Action Guide.

Now, I'm the sort of person that likes to figure things out for myself. And in my business, I don't like being too dependent on other people. So the Action Guide was great for me.

It gave me (a complete technical novice!) simple, step-by-step
video instructions on how to:

• Choose the theme of my website;
• Thoroughly research what people were looking for at search engines;
• Build web pages (that's the easiest bit!);
• Get traffic to my website (the most important bit!);
• Make money from my website.

The Story So Far

I've been running this website for two and a half years now, and in all honesty, it's been journey of ups-and-downs.

The ups have included:

• Working in my own time at my own pace;
• Seeing my web pages on the first page (or even no. 1) in Google searches;
• Getting local enquiries for my wedding photography;
• Earning money directly from the Google ads dotted around the site;
• Other website owners linking to my website because they like it so much.

The downs have been:

• Overwhelm-ment - I tend to focus too much on the big picture, rather than breaking things down into small chunks


• Impatience - Site Build It! is definately not a get rich quick scheme! It takes just as much hard work, time and effort to build an online business as it does a 'real world' business;

I haven't been the quickest at building up this website. I still have lots more things to write about, and ideas for how to make more money from it.

These people have 'got there', and are now making a full time living from their websites, writing about something they love...
